Love Being A Parent on Christmas Day

Jesus really IS the reason for the season. I believe it 1,000,000%. I love that I can talk to my kids about the birth of baby Jesus and why we celebrate Christmas. This year was the first year that I felt like Ethan could understand opening presents, Christmas trees, lights, ect. I am preparing myself for future discussion on who Santa is and what role he will play in my kids lives in the future. For my children, Christmas won't be about Santa...but I still want to incorporate Santa in some way so they are not entirely deprived of that childhood memory (Like sitting on Santa's lap and telling him what they are asking for for Christmas) I want however the main focus to be on Jesus being the reason for the season. I want them to know that we give gifts to others to celebrate the life of Jesus. So,getting to my point, with all that put to the side for just a moment, I must say that being a parent on Christmas Day truly is a gift in it's own way.

This year we got Ethan a train table and McKenna a little Kitchen. Both kids were so thrilled with their gifts that they didn't want to open anything after that. So we learned a valuable lesson this year to give them less gifts and focus on one bigger gift. I still get excited thinking about Christmas Day and the joy it brings being a parent. It's not about how many presents are under the tree, it's about the meaning of Christmas and the memories it creates in my life with my children. I look forward to the many years of Joy to come!

Better Late Than Never, Right?

The year 2010 is coming to an end and I can proudly say I have successfully created a blog! That's right! From here on out, I will be a blogger. I still have a lot to learn in the world of blogging, so bare with me as I work out the kinks. My intentions for creating a blog was to blog about my family, my kids, my life, and my beliefs. This is the first of many blogs to come! So stay tuned for what's coming next! Just to get things started, I attached a favorite picture of my darling kids. This was taken for our family photo shoot in Hidden Springs in August.
